Current Oil Production in the World: 81,820,404.59 barrels per day (bbl/day)

The European Union is the thirteenth largest producer of oil in the world. It produces an daily amount of 2,365,000 barrels of oil, accounting for about 3% of the world's oil production.

There has been a great deal of public awareness on oil scarcity through articles and organizations dedicated to spreading information on the peak oil theory.

Robert L. Hirsch, SAIC, and Project leader gave information on the "Peaking of the world oil production: Impacts, mitigation, and risk management". This website stated their approach was in order to provide "transparency and promote understanding".

It is the seventh (7th) in the world, with a production of 3.19 million oil barrels a day representing 3.74% of the world's total production. As a means of comparison, the number one spot is for Saudi Arabia, with a production of 10.78 million oil barrels a day, representing 12.65% of the world's total.
