peginterferon alfa
A derivative of interferon alfa used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C (often in combination with ribavirin) and chronic hepatitis B. It is available as a form for injection on prescription only.

Precautions:
see interferon alfa. Peginterferon alfa should not be given to women who are breastfeeding.
