Pennsylvania Electric (Penelec) has elected to provide power to the people of the Keystone State. The company distributes power to a population of 1.6 million in a 17,600-square-mile portion of northern, western, and south-central Pennsylvania. The utility operates more than 20,170 miles of distribution and more than 2,700 transmission lines. The Waverly Electric Light & Power Company, a subsidiary of Penelec, provides electric services to a population of about 8,400 in Waverly, New York. Penelec is an operating subsidiary of regional utility power player FirstEnergy.
