Pennsylvania metropolitan areas

Pennsylvania has fourteen metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) and four combined statistical areas (CSAs), as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Philadelphia ranks in the top ten United States metropolitan areas. In 2003, the U.S. Census introduced "metropolitan divisions" within some metropolitan areas. Pennsylvania has one metropolitan division within the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington MSA.

Combined statistical areas (CSA's)

The following table lists population figures for those combined statistical areas in Pennsylvania, in rank of population. Metropolitan population figures are as of the 2005 U.S. Census estimates. Pennsylvania county population figures are as of the 2003 U.S. Census.
