Penyffordd is a small village in Flintshire, Wales situated between Wrexham and Chester. The name Penyffordd is derived from the Welsh Pen Y Ffordd - meaning the top, or end, of the road.
Penyffordd lies to the east of A550, south of its junction with the A55 (T). The ward consists of the neighbouring villages of Penyffordd and Penymynydd, which are a ribbon development along the line of the former major road.
The resident population of Penyffordd, as measured in the 2001 Census, was 3,715.
It has two primary schools, Penyffordd CP and Abbotts Lane School, one bowling green (Crown Green) and an annual children's arts competition called The Festival.
The local secondary school is Castell Alun High School, [1] which is in the nearby village of Hope.
Penyffordd has a railway station on the Corwen road, which is on the Borderlands Line from Wrexham to Bidston.
Penyffordd has a website / blog about Penyffordd. http://penyffordd-district.blogspot.com/
There is another Penyffordd in Flintshire, Wales that is between Holywell and Prestatyn. It is a much smaller village and less well known.
