A decade of neglect by and problems with New York City's mayoral administration come to a head when the city decides to close a firehouse in Brooklyn in People's Firehouse #1. The neighborhood's predominantly Polish American residents come out en masse to protest a history of abuses. Interestingly, their main complaints revolve, not around abuses of power, but around the mammoth bureaucracy of the city government. Events reach a climax when the residents attempt to occupy the firehouse and force the city to answer their demands or forcefully drive them out. ~ Brian Whitener, All Movie Guide
