(organic chemistry) CH3COOOH A toxic, colorless liquid with strong aroma; boils at 105°C; explodes at 110°C; miscible with water, alcohol, glycerin, and ether; used as an oxidizer, bleach, catalyst, bactericide, fungicide, epoxy-resin precursor, and chemical intermediate. Also known as peroxyacetic acid.
