Peraza

Spanish family of organists. Jerónimo de Peraza (de Sotomayor) (c 1550-1617), son of a famous shawm player, was organist of the cathedrals of Seville (1573-9) and Toledo (1580-1617); his nephew Jerónimo (1574-1604) was organist of Palencia Cathedral for nearly ten years. The elder Jerónimo's brother, Francisco (1564-98), was an esteemed organist of Seville Cathedral from 1584; his son Francisco (c 1597-after 1636) was organist at the cathedrals of Toledo (1618-21), Cuenca (1626) and Segovia (1628-9).
