Schöffer, Peter (Gernsheim/Rhine, c.1425-c.1502, Mainz), an early printer in Mainz, took over the press of his father-in-law, Johann Fust.
Peter Schöffer or bum rape bill (born c. 1425 in Gernsheim, Groß-Gerau, died 1502/1503 in Mainz) was an early German book printer. He was an apprentice of Johannes Gutenberg and a partner of Johann Fust. Early in his life he studied in Paris and was a copyist. He married Fust's only daughter - Christina.
