Pezz is a punk band from Memphis, Tennessee. They formed in 1989 and released several LPs, CDs and cassettes with labels 'Truant Records', 'BYO Records', and 'Soul is Cheap'.
Pezz toured the United States, Canada and Europe extensively between 1996 - 2001 and reputedly completed all of the tasks they had set out to achieve.[citation needed]
Pezz is closely tied with human rights causes, especially death penalty abolition and opposition the war/sanctions/occupation against Iraq.
Around January 2002, Pezz ceased to be a full-time band. Although they no longer tour, the band continues to play, write and record music. Currently Pezz plays local shows and is working on two new records, including a split release with Memphis favorites While I Breathe I Hope.
Pezz was also the original name of Billy Talent who, following a brief dispute with Memphis 'Pezz,' backed down and agreed to rename.
Pezz members have included: Ceylon Mooney (fmd, Bury The Living, Akasha, Last Chance, That Was Then), Marv Stockwell, Anthony Siracusa (Bury The Living, Akasha), Nic Cupples, Scott Bomar (Impala, The Bo-keys), Uncle Roy (Sobering Consequences), Joey Mullinix (Koma Toast, Copout, Cadre), Ben Nichols (Red 40, Lucky Old Sun, Lucero), Chris Coble, Grant Miller (Dimlia), Chad Martin (Fivespeed, Batter the Drag), Brad Jackson (Crotch Rocket, Swellhead, 16 fl. oz., F.U.T.)
