German Literature Companion:

Pfaffe Lamprecht

Lamprecht, Pfaffe (or Pfaffe Lambrecht), a priest living in the first half of the 12th c., originating probably in Trier and later active in Cologne, who is believed to be the author of two Middle High German works, an epic poem on the subject of Alexander the Great (see Alexanderlied), and a shorter poem on Tobias, preserved only in fragments. Lamprecht is the first German writer known to have written both religious and profane poetry.
