PGP-RTB (Full Serbian name: Produkcija Gramofonskih Ploča Radio-Televizije Beograd) was a major record label and chain record store in the former SFR Yugoslavia based in Belgrade, Socialist Republic of Serbia. It was the music production branch of the national Radio-Television Belgrade. During the breakup of Yugoslavia the company changed its name to PGP-RTS (Produkcija Gramofonskih Ploča Radio-Televizije Srbije), which is the music production of branch of the Radio Television of Serbia.

History

PGP-RTB was established in 1958. It is notable for signing numerous eminent former Yugoslav pop and rock artists. The label has among others, released albums by Alisa, Amajlija, Bajaga i Instruktori, Đorđe Balašević, Banana, Bezobrazno Zeleno, Bulevar, Čista Proza, Disciplina Kičme, Drugi Način, Galija, Generacija 5, Gordi, Griva, Igra Staklenih Perli, Jakarta, Jugosloveni, Karizma, Kerber, Korni Grupa, La Strada, Laboratorija Zvuka, Laki Pingvini, Leb i Sol, Oktobar 1864, Osmi Putnik, Osvajači, Partibrejkers, Piloti, Pomaranča, Porodična Manufaktura Crnog Hleba, Poslednja Igra Leptira, Propaganda, Rambo Amadeus, Rani Mraz, Riblja Čorba, Smak, Suncokret, Tako, Vampiri, Warriors, YU grupa, Zana and Zona B, as well as some albums by eminent classical musicians at that time, such as Milenko Stefanović and Ernest Ačkun. Like Jugoton, PGP-RTB also had a licence to release foreign titles for the domestic market including notable international pop and rock music stars such as: Joan Baez, Bee Gees, Bon Jovi, James Brown, Def Leppard, Dire Straits, Bryan Ferry, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, Rainbow, Status Quo, Rod Stewart, Sting, The Style Council, The Who, and others.

Competition

Other major labels in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia were: Jugodisk from Belgrade; Jugoton and Suzy from Zagreb; Diskoton from Sarajevo; ZKP RTLJ from Ljubljana, and others.
