Phil Comeau, CM is a Canadian film and television director, born in Digby, Nova Scotia and living in Montreal, Quebec.

Biography

Phil Comeau, based in Montreal since 1983, is a film and television director and scriptwriter. He has directed a Canadian feature film, two TV movies in France and Romania, and numerous drama and documentary films and television series in over 20 countries.

His popular adult drama TV series Tribu.com (I & II) shot in Montreal, received ratings of 1.3 million viewers in Canada. His other TV drama series include Emily of New Moon, Lassie, Pit Pony, Mayday, La Sagouine, Les couleurs de mon accent and World Legends.

A globetrotter, Phil has travelled on all continents visiting over 50 countries. Comeau has also directed and wrote numerous Acadian films, including the first independent Acadian feature film Jerome’s Secret in 1994, the first Acadian comedy The Gossips and the first Acadian TV series entirely shot by an Acadian crew La Sagouine for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 2006.

Awards and Recognitions: His films and TV series have received 31 awards at festivals in North America and Europe. Phil Comeau was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2010; he received the prestigious rank of "Chevalier" of L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 2006; received the honorary distinction L'Ordre des francophones d'Amérique at the National Assembly in Quebec in 2007; an Honorary Doctorat in Fine-Arts from Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia in 2007; the Prix Meritas of the Federation acadienne du Quebec in 1999; and the Grand-Pre Award from the Minister of Culture of Nova Scotia in 1997.
