Biography

Trumpeter Phil Grenadier is the brother of the immensely successful jazz bassist Larry Grenadier. Originally from San Francisco, he now divides his time between Boston and New York. He has made sideman appearances on albums by Bob Belden, Owen Howard, Harvey Wainapel, Bob Nieske, and Melissa Kassel. His debut recording, Sweet Transients, was released in 2000. The album documents Grenadier's highly developed improvisational and bandleading skills, as well as his connections with fine young players such as Seamus Blake, Ethan Iverson, and Bill Stewart. ~ David R.
