A photo slideshow software is a computer software application used to display a range of digital photos, images and videos with more flexibility than a Powerpoint presentation. As a special viewer is not required, in most cases, to play the slideshow and the output file is typically a standard video format it is a more portable way of creating a personal or business presentation.

Typical features
A Slideshow application includes some major functions: image editing (including enhancement, cropping, rotating), transition and Ken Burns Effects, background music soundtrack, narration and captions.
Output
Output files are normally to DVD (MPEG-2) or CD ROM but some applications allow for encoding to formats supported by cell phones (3GP), gaming devices (MP4), Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh.
