Mechanical technique for producing miniature portrait figures and busts. It was the invention of Fran?ois Will?me (1830-1905) and was promoted with success in France, England and America in the mid-19th century. A registered patent of the invention was issued to Will?me on 14 August 1860 by the Department of Commerce, Paris, allowing 15 years sole operation by the owner. The general public was introduced to the medium at the Soci?t? G?n?rale de Photosculpture, Boulevard des Capucines, Paris, which operated from 1863 to 1868.
