Phyllis Winnifred Manchester
Manchester, Phyllis Winnifred (b London, 7 Dec. 1906. d Cincinnati, 18 May 1998). British dance critic and writer. Ballet critic of Theatre World (1941-3) and secretary to Marie Rambert (1944-6). Author of Vic-Wells: A Ballet Progress (London, 1942) and The Rose and the Star (with Iris Morley, London, 1948). Co-editor (with A. Chujoy) of the Dance Encyclopaedia, 1967 edition. She taught dance history at the University of Cincinnati for 24 years.
