actual commodity that is delivered to the contract buyer at the expiration of a commodity contract in either the spot market or the Futures Market. Some examples of physical commodities are corn, cotton, gold, oil, soybeans, and wheat. The quality specifications and quantity of the commodity to be delivered are specified by the exchange on which it is traded.
