Picsel

Wikipedia: Picsel

Picsel Technologies Ltd is a software company that designs and develops products for handheld devices such as mobile phones. Picsel produces browsers and file viewers, such as the viewer on the Samsung SGH-D600 mobile phone.

On 13 February 2009, Picsel Technologies Ltd was listed as a co-plaintiff in a patent lawsuit filed against Apple Inc by a related shell company, Picsel (Research) Ltd[1], however this suit was swiftly dumped [2] when the company entered administration. Despite the patented technology being developed by employees of Picsel Technologies Ltd, the patents in question are owned by the shell company, Picsel (Research) Ltd, and then licensed back to Picsel Technologies Ltd.[citation needed]

In July 2009 Picsel entered administration after months of being unable to pay their employees.[3][4][5]

Picsel Technologies' founder and CEO was Imran Khand. On 17 July 2009, Khand was removed as CEO of Picsel Technologies Ltd by the administrators, Pricewaterhouse Coopers[citation needed]. Khand remains CEO of Picsel (Research) Ltd.
