Pieces of a Dream is the 2005 greatest hits album by American pop singer-songwriter Anastacia, covering singles from her first three studio albums, 2000's Not That Kind, 2001's Freak of Nature, and 2004's Anastacia plus four new songs (two duets and two solo songs) and a megamix of her greatest hits. Only two of Anastacia's singles—"Boom", the official 2002 FIFA World Cup anthem, and "Love Is a Crime", from the soundtrack to the 2002 film Chicago—were omitted from the album, but are found as remixes on the special edition of the album. There were no official plans to release the album in the United States. The regular edition of the album was released on iTunes, but was removed in 2009 for unknown reasons. The album returned to the UK Albums Chart when it was re-released in October 2008. The re-release contained the same tracklisting but had new artwork.

To promote the album, Anastacia performed at the 2006 Rock in Rio: Lisboa festival. This was a one-night only, concert in support of Anastacia's 2005 greatest hit album, Pieces of a Dream as a part of Rock in Rio Lisboa 2006. She performed on the Palco Mundo (World Stage), after Marcelo D2 and Corinne Bailey Rae and before Sting and Portuguese band GNR. On the same day, but on the Hot Stage, Mesa, The Elected and The Gathering also performed.
Anastacia opened with "Paid My Dues" and closed with "I'm Outta Love" and as encore she did "Left Outside Alone".
During the show, she stopped the concert and took time to talk to the audience who were shouting questions to her. One man from the Netherlands asked if she wanted to marry him, and Anastacia responded, "Do you have a ring?" A ring was then thrown towards the stage. He was ushered onto the stage were he got on bended knee and proposed once again. She proceeded to ask him his name and then stated that his name wouldn’t blend with hers. She continued to joke about polygamy and wanted to make a way for a woman to have many husbands.
Towards the end of the show, she announced that she ran longer than expected and "I’m Outta Love" would be her last song. At the end, she rushed back on stage to perform "Left Outside Alone", stating, "I might get in trouble for this but I don’t care".
