Piedade is a civil parish in the municipality of Lajes do Pico on the island of Pico, the Portuguese Azores. The population in 2001 was 902, giving it a population density of 69.7 persons/km² as its area is 12.94km²; although a relatively spacious location, it is considered the densest parish in municipality.

Geography

Piedade is located on the extreme east coast of Pico, making frontier with Calheta de Nesquim and Ribeirinha, and connected by the Regional E.R.1-1ª to other centers on the island. The parish is divided into three distinct communities: Piedade, Calhau and Manhenha, in addition to smaller hamlets, such as Engrade, Cais de Galego and Altamora. It is known for the Parque Matos Souto, a recreational area and natural reserve.
