Biography

Baroque pop crooner Pierre Lapointe was born in Lac St. Jean, Quebec, in 1981. A kind of spiritual heir to the music immortal French composer Serge Gainsbourg, his elegantly debauched self-titled debut LP also earned comparison to Rufus Wainwright upon its mid-2004 release. Lapointe's follow-up, La Forêt des Mal-aimés, was released in the spring of 2006. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Pierre Lapointe

Pierre Lapointe (born May 23, 1981 in Alma, Quebec) is a Canadian singer. He has won many prizes since his debut, including six Félix in 2005 and at least one in 2006. He is well known for his voice and his obscure, esoteric lyrics, which tend to be melancholic. Another distinctive characteristic of his lyrics is their literary style.[1] Lapointe has created the persona of an egotistical dandy on stage, but he does this mostly to deflect attention from himself.[2][3]
