Overview
This is a story wherein a son’s fight is a mother’s grief. The story is an adaptation of Carlo J. Caparas' komiks classic which was made into a movie starring Ace Vergel and Charito Solis in 1983.
In the television series, Pieta is a story about Amanda, who is a loving almost martyr mother, that will do anything to protect her son, Rigor, who was played by Ryan Agoncillo, that was virtually raised on the streets.
Pieta is almost an identity of Michaelangelo's Pieta.
Plot
The story of Pieta is about a man, Rigor played by Ryan Agoncillo, a man raised in an informal area, where crime and violence is adamant. Rigor shed his ‘good boy’ image only to become a rogue man. After an unfortunate incident that separates him from his mother, Rigor set off to a journey of discriminating and unjust society. Years after, his mother returned only to find her son lost amidst gang wars and organized crime.
“Pieta” tells the story of a mother’s unconditional love, her willingness to sacrifice everything for her son. It follows the story of Rigor who grew up without a father and his journey to find his identity.
However, this story follows by Miguel Alcona who mysteriously calls up Amanda on the phone to take revenge to Amanda. Situationally, Rigor has taken his job as a member of a gang together with Efren. After years of gang membership, Efren turned his back on the life of streets to become a cop and to fall in love with Ella, who is the daughter of Delfin. When Rigor is spending his life as a gang member, he also falls in love with Martha, who is Helga's daughter. Helga is a strict mother of Martha who forces her daughter to fall in love with Frank John James Uy instead of Rigor and to let her marry Frank, which Martha do not like most.
Due to unfortunate turn of events, Rigor was unreasonably arrested by the police force because of killing Frank. After months of jail, Rigor was bailed out by a nemesis Miguel Alcona who paid a fine for bailing a prisoner out of jail and Miguel convinced him to be a member of his gang in order to be helped for his needs.
