Those who saw the 1994 biopic Ed Wood will recall that, in an early scene, the wall of a fly-by-night exploitation-flick distributor was decorated with a poster for the 1951 epic Pin Down Girls. Also known as Racket Girls, this schlock classic is an "expose" of the women's wrestling circuit. Tommy Farrell plays a slimy wrestling promoter who hasn't a mote of consideration about his clients, nor the risks they endure in the ring. Among the wrestling headliners seen herein are Clara Mortensen and Rita Martinez, each one a virtuoso. Compared to the contemporary antics of the WWF and WCW, Pin Down Girls is about as titillating as Sense and Sensibility. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
