Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection

Top

Game Description

Though it offers authentic, playable simulations of more than eight classic machines from the 1960s through the 1990s, Pinball Hall of Fame aims also to provide players with an entertaining, interactive reference to the history of pinball. Developers at FarSight Studios (NCAA Football '99, NASCAR Road Racing, ESPN NFL Primetime 2002) worked with the "curators" of the real-life "Pinball Hall of Fame" (a project headquartered in Las Vegas) in an effort to craft an accurate and relevant simulation. Each virtually re-created table is introduced with a "fly by," which points out notable features, allows players to plan strategies, and highlights artwork and interesting trivia. The game saves high scores, both by player and per table, and party-table kings and queens can unlock an additional "bonus" machine. Up to four can compete in the game's multiplayer modes.

Location 1610 E Tropicana Ave
Las Vegas, Nevada
Type Pinball Museum
Collection size ~400 pinball machines
Director Tim Arnold
Website www.pinballhall.org

The Pinball Hall of Fame opened in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2006. It is a project of the Las Vegas Pinball Collectors Club, and it features pinball machines from all eras, including some very rare machines such as Williams' Black Gold, Bally's Pinball Circus and Recreativos Franco's Impacto. It features approximately 400 different pinball games, including some classic video arcade games and other novelty machines of the past and present.

The museum is a nonprofit venture and its creation came about in part due to donations, which are still accepted. The museum is run by Tim Arnold, a veteran arcade operator who ran "Pinball Pete's" in East Lansing, Michigan.[1][dead link] Fully staffed by volunteers, excess revenues are donated to the Salvation Army.[2]

Since 1990, Tim Arnold has been busy with this project, raising money selling DVDs (and VHS tapes) about pinball repair and organizing pinball 'fun nights' at his own house. There he also has a very large personal collection of pinball machines.[3]
