Pinga

(American mythology)

In certain Eskimo myths the moon god Igaluk is subordinate to the mysterious Pinga, ‘the one on high’. This goddess acts as the guardian of game, the controller of the hunt, the protectress of the living, and the helper of the angakut, ‘medicine-men’. Another helper of the shamans is Asiaq, the goddess of weather.
