Pingxi (traditional Chinese: 平溪鄉; [[Tongyong&bsp;Pinyin]]: Pingsi Siang; Hanyu Pinyin: Píngxī Xiāng; Wade-Giles: Ping-hsi-hsiang; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Pêng-khoe; historically spelled Pinghsi), is a rural township in the eastern part of Taipei County in northern Taiwan (ROC).
The source of the Keelung River is in Jingtong, which is inside the Pingxi Township. It was an important coal mining town in the early 20th century.

- Population: 5,845 people (2003)
In 2009 the entire county is due to become a special municipality called New Taipei. [1].

- Sky lanterns (天燈)
In Pingxi, every year during the Lantern Festival, people have their wishes written on sky lanterns, and release them to the skies.In 2009, the Lantern Festival had the presence of sky lanterns from Japan and Mexico on February 7th, and ones from China on February 9th.[2]
