Biography

Heavy metallists Pissing Razors hail from El Paso, TX, and are musically comparable to local heroes Pantera, plus Skinlab and Machine Head -- in other words, angst-filled, shouted vocals are merged with meaty guitar riffs for a sound that's custom-made for the mosh pit. Singer Joe Rodriquez, bassist Rick Valles, and drummer Eddy Garcia have appeared on all three of the group's albums thus far, 1998's self-titled release, 1999's Cast Down the Plague, 2000's Fields of Disbelief, and 2001's Where We Come From, with guitarist Matt Lynch appearing on the first two albums and Cesar Soto on the last two. In February of 2001, Rodriquez left the group. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide

Biography

The band originally was named "Back Door Cyclops" but decided to change its name and style of music to incorporate more raw sounding vocals. The new name originated from the band's original lead vocalist who contracted a case of gonorrhea from a whorehouse in Juarez, Mexico. He was quoted as claiming it felt like he was "pissing razors".

In the early 90's, the band's original drummer, Danny Garcia decided to move from El Paso, TX to New York City, NY. Danny's brother, Eddy took this opportunity to switch from playing guitar to drums. Matt Lynch then moved from bass guitar to lead guitar and Rick Valles was then hired as the new bass player. Together with Joe Rodriguez, this line up proved to be progressive. In 1997, the band was signed to German-based Noise Records and released their self titled CD the following year. Five more albums were released from 1999 to 2003. In 2000 the band contributed to a Pantera tribute album, entitled Panther: A Tribute To Pantera. They provided the opening track, Domination.

In 2000, Joe Rodriguez quit the band, stating that he wished to spend more time with his family. He was replaced by Jason Bragg, who recorded on the 2001 album "Where We Come From", but left shortly afterward. During the transition between Joe and Jason, Matt Lynch also decided to leave Pissing Razors and Cesar Soto was hired to fill his spot. Jason Bragg was replaced by Andre Acosta after the "Where We Come From" tour. Andre Acosta's first contribution to the band would be the live album "Live in the Devil's Triangle", Titled after the nick name given to the area of town Eddie Garcia (Drummer) grew up in.

In 2004, Pissing Razors disbanded following the departure of Matt Difabio. Then Difabio and Acosta formed the succeeding band The Downtrodden, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. As of 2006, Eddy Garcia and Andre Acosta are playing in a local El paso, TX band named Speed Razor. Joe Rodriguez, Cesar Soto, and Matt Lynch were playing in another El Paso group named Fueled II Fire. Jason Bragg is on tour as backstage support to Black Label Society. Matt Difabio is fronting his band by the name of Single Bullet Theory, and Rick Valles has decided to leave the stage entirely.

As of 2009, Eddie Garcia & Andre Acosta are still on stage with "Speed Razor" making "the heavy shit". Joe Rodriguez left Fueled II Fire to pursue other professional endevours, but not before F2F decided to changed their name to "The Sixth". Andre Acosta soon joined former member's of THE SIXTH to form a new band called the YEARS OF COLD. Rick Valles remains to be fully retired from the music business. Jason Bragg remains to a member of Black Label Society's back stage crew and Matt Difabio is still doing shows with Single Bullet Theory.
