Plot

Latvian filmmaker Laila Pakalnina directs her first film in color with the experimental absurdist feature Pitons (The Python). Mara Kimele stars as a stern school headmistress. When someone pulls a scatological prank in the school's attic, she takes it upon herself to find the identity of the culprit. Meanwhile, the school photographer (Juris Grave) loses her pet python and the fire department shows up to deal with the situation. Featuring cinematography by Gints Berzins, The Python was shown at the 2003 Venice Film Festival as part of the Undercurrents program. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
