Pittsburgh Public Theater is a professional theater company based in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's Cultural District.

Established in 1974, it was housed in the Hazlett Theatre at the Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall on Pittsburgh’s North Side. PPT moved in 1999 to the O'Reilly Theater, which the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust built and architect Michael Graves designed specifically for them.

The O’Reilly opened on 11 December 1999 with the PPT’s world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright August Wilson's King Hedley II.
