Plan-B Theatre Company was founded on a shoestring in 1991 and incorporated in 1995 in Salt Lake City, Utah and is now one of three fully professional theatre companies in the city. It is the smallest in terms of budget and staff.
Plan-B develops and produces unique and socially conscious theatre, is the only theatre company in Utah fully devoted to developing new plays by Utah playwrights, and is the resident theatre company at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.
At the close of the 20th anniversary, 2010/11 season, 61 of the 83 productions in Plan-B's history will have been world premieres.
Plan-B is the only theatre company in Utah history to have published anthologies of full-length, original plays: PLAYS FROM BEHIND THE ZION CURTAIN (2008) and MORE PLAYS FROM BEHIND THE ZION CURTAIN (2010), published by Juniper Press/Oxide Books and EVEN MORE PLAYS FROM BEHIND THE ZION CURTAIN (2012), published by Smashwords.
Plan-B is also the only theatre company in Utah history to have toured internationally (Leslea Newman's A LETTER TO HARVEY MILK, Frankfurt, Germany; Aden Ross' AMERIKA, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and transferred an intact production off-Broadway (Carol Lynn Pearson's FACING EAST).
Plan-B operates under a Letter of Agreement with Actors' Equity Association and an Independent Producers Agreement with the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
