POGO is a cable and satellite television channel created by Turner Broadcasting, a unit of Time Warner for India which primarily shows animated programming and some Live-Action shows.
History
POGO is a family entertainment channel in India. It was launched on January 1, 2004. Although launched as a children's entertainment channel like its sister channel Cartoon Network, it has become a family entertainment channel. The primary target audience now is kids (aged 3+) to young adults (aged up to 40). Although initially only available in India, a time shift version is now available in Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
In Pakistan and Bangladesh POGO is available as a three-hour block on Cartoon Network (Pakistan).
Content
POGO airs in multiple languages in India. All shows are available in English and Hindi. Some shows are also available in Telugu. The timeshift version which is available outside India is only available in English.
The channel carries a number of popular animated shows as well as live action shows. Turner produces exclusive shows for POGO under the brand name POGO Originals from time to time. A POGO original production by Turner, The Music Art and Dance show M.A.D, is India's No. 1 Do-it-yourself show. POGO also showcases many popular animated and live action movies under the block name Lights! Camera! POGO
Annually, it showcases POGO Amazing Kids Awards which are held in parts of India and children with nurtured talent are nominated for many categories.
Pogo have had many Bollywood celebrities and cricketers hosting and advertising such as the likes of Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar and Yuvraj Singh. It showcases Tiny TV from morning till afternoon. Then from evening it showcases Prime Pogo which is aimed at teens and preteens. It also shows some Hindi live action shows like CIA (Cambala Investigation Agency).
The content of this channel is quite similar to Boomerang UK and Boomerang Latin America's content.
