Gadzooksi! With a name like this, you might expect a screaming, holy mess, but this Midwest group is actually fairly ticklish. Singer/bassist Erika Hoffmann has a piquant, euphonious voice; she'd be great singing lullabies. With help from His Name Is Alive and ESP Summer's Warren Defever's production, her group serves up bulky noise pop that has a certain sanguine quality, loud and tough enough to be loved by tougher indie crowd, but friendly enough for the more twee pop-oriented folks. But just what that endless drone on the B-side "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" is on about is anybody's guess. ~ Jack Rabid, Rovi
