Polly Connell has performed a variety of behind-the-scenes tasks since she left her native New Orleans and went to California to study drama under Max Reinhardt. She made her film debut in 1940 with a small role in Spring Parade and then appeared briefly on stage. During the 1940s, she became the state's first woman deejay. Later Connell worked as a story analyst for Disney and was responsible for bringing Mary Poppins to the screen. She also did cartoon voices, playing the chirpy chipmunk "Dale" and Bambi's mother. Afterward she worked as a writer's agent, and then helped launch the careers of screen and television writers such as Stephen J. Cannell. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
