polymerized caprolactam
A braided synthetic fiber used as a nonabsorbable suture material but only in animals. It has high tensile strength, modest knot-holding capacity, reduced capillarity because of a coating over the twisted fibers, and low tissue reactivity. Called also Vetafil.
