PMG is a description of an abnormality, not a disease

Polymicrogyria (PMG) is a condition characterized by abnormal development of the brain before birth. The surface of the brain normally has many ridges or folds, called gyri. In people with polymicrogyria, the brain develops too many folds, and the folds are unusually small.

Polymicrogyria can affect part of the brain or the whole brain. The signs and symptoms associated with polymicrogyria depend on how much of the brain, and which particular brain regions, are affected.

Researchers have identified multiple forms of polymicrogyria. Individuals with polymicrogyria can enjoy a fulfilling, rich life with range of abilities, feelings, talents and interests, but also face physical and cognitive challenges related to PMG. Since each presentation of PMG is unique to the individual, a physician with experience treating PMG is the best resource for information about prognosis and treatment.

Diagnosis is usually made by neuroimaging. CT scan or MRI of the brain will show the characteristic abnormality. MRI has better resolution and may detect polymicrogyria or small heterotopias more easily than CT.

This is a very sad (and dangerous) genetic disorder that in my opinion needs to be treated quickly and in the right way. My aunt and uncle take extremely good care of Frances, like the way they should. I credit them for that, and encourage them to keep up the good work. When you need something, you express your feelings, by whining, complaining, or just simply asking. Disabled children such as Frances cannot whine, complain or ask. They do not know how to express what they want. So they need lots of attention and care and medical treatments and therapy and many other things.
