ethene homopolymer; a versatile thermoplastic polymer of ≈1.5 — 100 kDa, prepared by polymerization of ethylene. High-density polyethylene, a linear polymer, is fairly rigid and crystalline, while low-density polyethylene, a branched polymer, is softer and more flexible; both forms are chemically resistant and have high electrical resistivity.
