(materials) A solid or spongy cellular material produced by the reaction of a polyester (such as glycerin) with a diisocyanate (such as toluene diisocyanate) while carbon dioxide is liberated by the reaction of a carboxyl with the isocyanate; used for thermal insulation, soundproofing, and padding.
