Ponte Tresa is a municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. The picturesque village lies on the Swiss west headland of Lake Lugano, approx 12 km from the city of Lugano on the Italian border. The part of the town that is in Italy is called Lavena Ponte Tresa.
With an area of 0.28 km², Ponte Tresa is the smallest municipality in Switzerland, being only one thousandth the size of Bagnes.
The metre gauge Lugano-Ponte Tresa Railway connects Ponte Tresa with Lugano.
