Pontiac is a municipality in western Quebec, Canada, in Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais Regional County Municipality on the Ottawa River. It should not be confused with Pontiac Regional County Municipality, which borders Pontiac (but does not include it). Pontiac was created by the 1975 amalgamation of Onslow, Eardley, Quyon and Onslow-Partie-Sud.[2]
Pontiac has a low cost of living and is trying to attract new immigrants coming to Canada to improve the local economy. It has high French, German and English populations. The unemployment rate is 11%. The region's only hospital has a low amount of doctors.[citation needed]
Pontiac is located within Canada's National Capital Region.
