Review

Poppy Melodies is a single-disc, 25-track overview of popular war-time tunes from the late '30s through the early '50s. Among the standout tracks are "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and "We'll Meet Again" (both by Vera Lynn), "There'll Always Be an England" (Monte Rey), "Skyliner" (Charlie Barnet & His Orchestra), "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" (the Andrews Sisters), and "American Patrol" (Glenn Miller). This ASV collection is a sufficient overview of the era and offers decent sound quality. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
