Porphyromonas
A genus of gram negative, anaerobic bacteria previously grouped in the genus Bacteroides. Involved in periodontal disease and a cause of dog and cat bite wound infections.
- P. levii — associated with summer mastitis in cattle.
- P. salivosus — causes subcutaneous abscesses in cats.
