Porta Systems keeps telephone networks safe and healthy. The company's Line Connection and Protection division makes surge protectors and systems for connecting copper communications lines to network switching equipment. Its Signal Processing division targets the aerospace, defense, and medical imaging markets with specialty communications systems and high frequency transformers. Porta had a third segment -- Operations Support Systems (OSS) division, which provided systems for automating network operation, maintenance, testing, and trouble management -- but it discontinued those operations in 2003, and ceased support of OSS products in 2007.
