(psychology) Rapid learning in a new situation because the stimuli or responses required are similar to those learned in an earlier situation.

Transfer of training is positive when previous learning accelerates the learning of a new task. For example, there is positive transfer when an individual who has learned to roller skate can acquire ice skating skills more quickly than he or she would otherwise have done.
