Pertaining to the period of about 2 weeks after weaning. Relates to the dam or the offspring.
- p. anestrus — a problem in sows. See anestrus.
- p. diarrhea — a cause of serious losses in young pigs during the first 2 weeks after weaning; a form of coliform gastroenteritis.
- p. Escherichia coli diarrhea — see coliform gastroenteritis.
- p. growth check — the sudden slowing of weight gain in piglets when they change from sow's milk to prepared grain rations.
