Division of the u.s. Postal service responsible for the enforcement of laws regarding mail fraud. The Postal Inspection Service can criminally prosecute offenders and/or forcibly close their business. They may also protect consumers from a fraudulent offer by stamping "fraudulent," "refused," or "out-of business" on envelopes addressed to the company in question and returning them to the senders.
