A genus of intestinal flukes (digenetic trematodes) in the family Brachylaemidae.

  • P. commutatus — (syn. P. gallinarum) found in the ceca of fowl and other birds and may cause typhlitis.
  • P. suis — occurs in the small intestine of pigs but causes little apparent injury.
