Coordinates: 42°50′27″N 70°55′32″W / 42.84083°N 70.92556°W / 42.84083; -70.92556 The Powwow River is a 22.8 mile long (36.7 km)[1] river located in New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the United States. It is a tributary of the Merrimack River, part of the Gulf of Maine watershed.

The Powwow River rises in Danville, New Hampshire and flows generally southeast through an area of wetlands and low hills to the Merrimack River in Amesbury, Massachusetts. The river passes through Long Pond in Danville and Great Pond and Powwow Pond in Kingston, New Hampshire, reaches Trickling Falls Dam in East Kingston, New Hampshire, then flows to Tuxbury Pond straddling South Hampton, New Hampshire and Amesbury, and finally reaches Lake Gardner, which is entirely in Amesbury. The river drops approximately 90 feet through the center of Amesbury, which provided water power for the early development of the town.
