Plot

This Georgian-Russian comedy was actually made in 1991 and offers an interesting glance back at one odd practice during Stalin's regime. Towards the end of the leader's life he found himself physically and mentally exhausted from the rigors of constant public appearances, so, to get a break, several doubles were trained to impersonate him. These doubles would appear at ceremonial events. This is the story of one of them. Prior to being forcibly recruited into service, factory worker Moisey Pichkhadze would have been considered an undesirable citizen because of his Jewish roots. Soon after he receives his special training in an isolated mansion, the real Stalin suddenly dies of a heart attack at age 74.
