Prelude for string orchestra in F Minor, Op 25

Classical Work: Prelude for string orchestra in F Minor, Op 25
  • Date: 1920
  • Composer: Gerald Finzi
  • Period: Modern (1910-1949)

Review

Like "The Fall of the Leaf", this brief piece was destined to be a

movement of a chamber symphony and later became the "bud"

section of a triptych called "The Bud, the Blossom and the Berry".

Finzi abandoned the project and scored the Prelude for strings

only. There is a grave and introspective feeling in the music, with

an indelible tint of melancholy. ~ Hector Bellman, All Music Guide
